Job Description

Mission Controller - Swindon

We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded individual to join The Space Program as a Mission Controller. This is a pivotal site-based role responsible for the operational success of your location. It combines customer engagement, business development, commercial awareness, and operational management.

If you're confident using social media to generate local interest, enjoy working to targets, understand the basics of commercial performance, and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves, then you're exactly who we're looking for.

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Sales Engagement

Be the face of the site, welcome customers and visitors, creating a positive first impression. Handle enquiries in person, over the phone, and via email with professionalism and accuracy. Use social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, local groups) to raise awareness, respond to messages, and generate new leads. Conduct engaging site tours that convert into bookings. Accurately process quotes, documentation, and payments.
Commercial Performance

Deliver against sales, occupancy, and revenue targets. Understand and contribute to site performance, including revenue, contribution, and overheads. Proactively follow up on all leads and lapsed enquiries to maximise conversion. Manage stock levels of merchandise (e.g. boxes, padlocks) to maximise secondary revenue.
Data & Systems

Use internal CRM and booking systems to maintain customer records and site activity. Update reports and trackers to monitor occupancy, sales pipeline, and performance metrics. Interpret data and share insights to improve service delivery and business performance.
Site Standards & Operations

Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe site, including communal areas, signage, and container presentation. Conduct daily checks and identify any maintenance, cleanliness or security issues. Complete minor tasks such as litter picking, light maintenance, and visual inspections. Support the team with permit-to-work procedures and contractor visits.
Teamwork & Support

Collaborate with colleagues across The Space Program. Provide cover or support to other sites when required. Contribute to a positive, can-do culture that values pride and accountability.
Weekend Work

This role may involve working full days on weekends, either regularly or on occasion, depending on business needs. Weekend coverage will be scheduled in advance and shared fairly across the team.

Out-of-Hours and On-Call Provision

As part of your role, you will be included in a scheduled out-of-hours on-call rota (approximately 1 in every 8 weeks). While on call, you will be expected to respond to phone queries and assist with customer access or safety issues, typically resolving matters remotely using mobile apps and company systems. Common issues include gate access, forgotten codes, or customer support queries.

All on-call duties will be pre-scheduled and shared across the wider Mission Controller team. Time off in lieu will be provided for any significant hours worked during these periods, in line with our company policy.

What You'll Need

Ideally, you will live within a 10-15 minute commute of the site. Confident communicator with a natural customer-first mindset. Comfortable using social media for business engagement. Driven by targets and motivated to achieve results. Understands basic commercial terms: revenue, contribution, and overheads. Good with data and able to use systems and spreadsheets confidently. Willing to get hands-on with site presentation and light maintenance. Prior experience in a customer-facing, retail, or operational role is desirable.
What You'll Get

A varied and autonomous role where you can directly influence your site's success. A collaborative and energetic team environment. Full training and development support. Competitive salary and benefits. Commission structure linked to performance. Eligibility for the company's profit-related bonus scheme. Attendance at quarterly company offsite update days.
