EQUANS are looking for a Mobile Maintenance Technician working on behalf of our Avon and Sommerset Police contract in Bristol. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview:
Provision of all round engineering support, maintaining the buildings at Avon and Somerset Police PFI Contract. Have a detailed understanding of all new or current Building Services systems and contingency procedures within the buildings and ensure compliance with all contract procedures and that all Local Authority, Statutory Regulations and Codes of Practise in particular the Fire Certificate and Avon & Somerset Police Safety/operational processes are followed to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
Responsible for ensuring that all activities within the building are known and that they are being carried out with due regard to Health and Safety, maintaining the 100% uptime criteria as stipulated within our contractual obligations. Also responsible for ensuring the shift-manning levels are maintained.
Maintain excellent standards of response to plant failures, completion of assigned work and ensure any abnormal operating conditions and housekeeping issues are dealt with proficiently.
Operate all systems within the buildings in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including HV operations)
Ensure that Specialist Service Provider worksheets are signed off that quality of work is inspected and recommendations are escalated within the site team
Maintain effective shift handovers including critical plant status, plant isolations, issues arising, on-going works, special task requests, standard of housekeeping
Ensure the effective and economical ordering of any parts and that quotations/purchase requisitions are clearly and accurately stated and any difficulties encountered on engineering activities are reported to the appropriate line manager
Engineering Control Room, plant areas, workshops, stores, changing/rest areas etc. are kept to the highest level of housekeeping and standards
To assist the management team in ensuring that suitably trained staff are on site during each respective shift through the correct execution of holiday planning or other days off
Ensure regular plant inspections, works inspections and audits are carried out to highlight and address any areas of concern through housekeeping, workmanship, PPM Works/Project Works/Reactive Works, to correct any areas of concern directly through site staff under your control.
To ensure all site tools/equipment and keys inventory is kept up to date and in calibration to aid in the smooth operation of the buildings.
To follow all local processes and escalation procedures.
Good level of understanding of all installed services within the contract including the remote sites
Ability to carry out controlled switching of UPS, Generators, HV and LV switchgear either for maintenance works or recovery from failure.
Ensure all record keeping functions are completed on a Daily basis:
Ensure handover to opposite shift (Shift Change Over Log) is completed before leaving site, updating the status of any out of hours helpdesk tasks within the appropriate logs
Issue/Close/Inspection of work permits and areas of work when required (HV, LV, Switching Logs, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Access, Hot Works, Mechanical Works, Roof Working, Confined Space) - This is especially required when contractors are under our control through the PTW systems

Life Safety Systems Logs
Water Treatment Log Books
Emergency Lighting Log Books
Fire and Life Safety System Log Books and Test Cards
Statutory and Compliance Inspections and Logs
Complexity:
Operation and troubleshooting for the following:
Building management system
Control systems
Portable Appliance Testing, Electrical Testing, Condition Based Monitoring
Air conditioning system
AHU's variables speed
Boilers and heating system
Generators, controls, fuel systems and associated ventilation/exhaust systems
AC, DC single phase and three phase motors
UPS system and associated control systems
Emergency lighting
Operation of HV systems (training and familiarisation with this system will be made available)
Qualifications or Required Experience:
Demonstrate a good understanding and be technically competent in all building services, In particular BEMS, UPS, generators, static switches, water treatment, refrigeration and air conditioning
Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff, or difficult situation
Pro-active in achieving the highest standard of operation
Have basic IT skills
Spares ordering/Competitive Quotes
Small works projects/quotes/reports
Previous experience of PFI Contracts in a management or supervisory role
5 years' experience in Building Services industry
HV authorised person
C&G Pts. 1 & 2 or equivalent in electrical/mechanical discipline
Current Edition IEE: Wiring and Installation Regulations, 18th Edition trained.
