Caledonia Fire and Security Limited are recruiting an apprentice to join our electrical systems team. The successful individual will have the opportunity to work for an established local employer and become a multi-disciplined technician.

As a qualified Fire and Security Technician you will be responsible for carrying out system installation & maintenance, fault finding, attending to emergency callouts, reactive & minor or extra works to:

Fire detection and fire alarm systems

Intruder alarm systems

CCTV systems

Access control systems

Emergency lighting

Entry Requirements

Employees may enter a Modern Apprenticeship from the age of 16. There is no upper age limit (having a driving licence is desirable).

Apprentices should be able to demonstrate a basic level of Maths and English at National Level 5 or equivalent.

What's Covered

As well as working daily alongside experienced technicians, learning and developing in the fields of both fire and security the successful you will attend Edinburgh College on day release as required. Units covered at college include:

Year 1

Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety

Communicate effectively with others

Give a positive image of yourself

Prepare for the installation

Year 2

Plan the Installation

Install electronic fire and security systems

Handover electronic fire and security systems

Survey sites for the installation of electronic fire and security systems

Year 3

Commission electronic fire and security systems

Maintain the performance of electronic fire and security systems

Diagnose and rectify faults

Test and confirm the operation of electronic fire and security systems

Audit systems

Students also complete 13 log books over the course of the three year Modern Apprenticeship relevant to what they are working towards on-site and in the workshop.

You'll gain a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6 - Electronic Fire and Security Systems.

Career Prospects on Completion

Upon successful completion, you could gain employment as a:

Qualified Fire and Security Systems Technician
