The business is busy and growing, and we are now at the stage where

strong operational leadership, tighter systems, and consistent standards

matter more than simply doing more volume.

This role exists to bring structure, accountability, and calm control to the day-to-day running of the business.

The Role



As Mortgage Operations Manager, you take ownership of the internal operation.

You do not generate leads and you are not required to write mortgages day to day.

Your role is to

ensure the business runs properly

.

You will lead advisers and client services, oversee systems and compliance, improve processes, and make sure no clients, cases, or opportunities are missed.

You report directly to the Managing Director and act as the internal lead for how the business operates.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Control



Own the day-to-day mortgage operation Ensure cases progress efficiently with no stagnation Identify and fix process gaps early Improve workflows, handovers, and internal standards

Adviser Oversight



Day-to-day management of employed advisers Oversight and support of self-employed advisers Ensure advisers follow agreed processes and timelines Monitor conversion, case quality, protection and review outcomes Address performance issues calmly and professionally

Client Services Leadership



Work closely with the Head of Client Services Ensure client communication standards are consistently met Protect the end-to-end client journey from application through review Reduce missed reviews, poor follow-up, and preventable revenue loss

Compliance & Risk



Act as the operational point of contact with the compliance firm Ensure files, systems, and processes remain compliant Identify risks early and address them properly

Systems & Accuracy



Ensure ACRE and Active CRM reflect reality at all times No stuck cases, no stale leads, no unclear ownership Use data to drive improvements, not reporting for reporting's sake

Continuous Improvement



Review operational performance monthly Improve consistency, efficiency, and outcomes Build systems that work without founder involvement

Has strong experience in mortgage operations Has managed advisers, admin teams, or whole offices Enjoys improving systems and standards Is commercially aware without being sales-driven Is confident holding people accountable Takes pride in running things properly
You are likely coming from an Operations Manager, Office Manager, or Senior Mortgage Operations role within a brokerage or network.

Not a sales manager role Not a marketing or business development role Not a stepping stone to self-employment Not a "player-manager" adviser position
This is an operational leadership role.

Experience & Location



Mortgage industry experience essential CeMAP preferred (or strong operational mortgage background) Previous management experience required Office-based role in Chelmsford Full-time, permanent position
