About the Role

Harrogate College are looking for a Teacher with specialist subject expertise for our Motor Vehicle department to teach our full-time students in our fully kitted Motor Vehicle workshop. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding area of the curriculum that boasts continued learner success and achievement.


As an experienced Motor Vehicle teacher or Technician, you will be required to teach learners across all modes of attendance and across all the levels of Motor Vehicle. You will be required to teach the following types of programmes:

16-18-year-old Study Programmes 19 plus learners who are on Study programmes

You will provide an excellent learning experience to ensure the individual learner gains the appropriate skills in readiness for further study, employment or apprenticeship.


What You Will Do
The successful candidate must have a passion for Motor Vehicle and the ability to enthuse and motivate technicians of the future. Previous experience of working with young people would be advantageous. You must have the drive, determination and desire to make a difference to young people's lives through education.

You will provide current, specialist subject expertise in a skills shortage area for teaching delivery. Maintain links with the sector and help ensure the curriculum content reflects the latest industrial or professional practice. Ensure the curriculum delivery team are aware of the latest developments within the sector and have recent CPD and industrial updating. Prepare and teach on a range of Motor Vehicle Service, (PHEV, Electrical Vehicle,)and Repair courses; Contribute to aspirational teaching, learning and assessment. Keep accurate records for learners' progress in College.

About You
Possess, or be willing to work towards a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE). Hold a relevant vocational / technical qualification or degree in teaching subject. Relevant recent experience in the subject sector area and clear expertise. Relevant up to date subject knowledge. Recent delivery in the Further Education, training or school sector.

The energy-efficient new building will include a workshop unit that provides large scale facilities aligned to industry needs including advanced manufacturing, low carbon construction, retrofit, sustainable energy and bioeconomy, health science and hospitality. This will complement the college's existing tech centre which is home to its motor vehicle, electrical, joinery and welding workshops.
