As a delivery driver you are the face of the business and the first point of contact for the customers and so it is important that you are enthusiastic & self-aware.
Key responsibilities:
Loading and Unloading
Safely load and organise deliveries onto the delivery vehicle to maximise efficiency.
Ensure fragile or heavy items are handled properly to prevent damage.
Delivery Operations
Deliver orders to multiple locations, ensuring all deliveries are completed accurately and within the specified timeframes.
Obtain signatures or proof of delivery (POD) on each drop.
Follow special delivery instructions for customers.
Customer Service
Provide excellent customer service at delivery points, answering queries and addressing concerns politely.
Communicate with head office on customer queries and communicate effectively.
Vehicle Maintenance and Safety
Conduct daily vehicle checks, including fuel, oil, tyres, and lights, to ensure roadworthiness.
Report any vehicle defects or issues promptly.
Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and organised.
Compliance with Regulations
Adhere to all traffic laws and delivery regulations.
Follow health and safety guidelines for lifting and handling heavy items.
Maintain a valid and clean driver's licence.
Inventory Management
Check parcels against delivery manifests to ensure all items are accounted for.
Report missing or damaged product to head office promptly.
Problem Solving
Resolve delivery issues on the spot, such as locating hard-to-find addresses or handling delivery issues.
Communicate unresolved issues to head office for further action.
Time Management
Ensure all deliveries are completed efficiently within the scheduled timeframe.
Prioritise deliveries based on deadlines or customer requirements.
Use of Technology
Operate handheld devices and sat nav for navigation, scanning, and logging deliveries.
Familiarise yourself with company-specific delivery software and systems.
Required Skills and Attributes:
Applicants must be over the age of 25
Clean and full manual driver's license
Cash handling experience (not essential)
Own transport to attend work (not on public transport route)
Start time 6:30am, finish time will vary depending on the workload of the day. Average week is 45 hours.
