The Role
Reporting to the Supervisor and Manager, the Multi-Skilled Carpenter will be a vital part of our small, multi-disciplined project team. You'll gain hands-on experience maintaining, improving, and altering the College's extensive range of buildings, which span from the 14th to the 21st century.
Your key responsibilities include:
Carpentry Expertise:
Carrying out all aspects of carpentry work in the maintenance, improvement, and alteration of the College's varied building stock.
Multi-Trade Capability:
Applying at least two additional trade skills at an intermediate level, choosing from
plumbing, plastering, bricklaying, or ceramic tiling.
Team Collaboration:
Being a willing and adaptable member of the Works Department, supporting a wide range of duties beyond typical carpentry tasks.
About You
We are looking for an experienced multi-skilled carpenter who can work both unsupervised and within a team. You should have an eye for detail and some experience working in historic buildings.
Essential Skills & Qualities:
Competent Carpenter & Joiner:
Demonstrated proficiency in carpentry and joinery, ideally with experience in historic buildings.
Multi-Trade Competence:
Proven experience in at least two of the following:
Plastering:
Able to complete various plastering works such as patch repairs or skimming.
Plumbing:
Able to plumb in kitchen appliances, bathroom suites, and undertake small heating repairs.
Bricklaying:
Able to take on repointing and small bricklaying tasks.
Ceramic Tiling:
Able to tile kitchens and bathrooms.
Physical Capability:
Awareness of the physical nature of the position, including the requirement to work under all weather conditions and at heights.

What We Offer
Start Date:
As soon as possible.
Working Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (30 minutes for lunch and 10 minutes morning break). You will be expected to respond to occasional out-of-hours emergency call-outs for which a minimum of 2 hours overtime will be paid.
Salary:
Circa 34,500 - 35,500 (gross) per annum, depending on qualifications, skills, and experience. Salary is paid monthly in arrears.
