Our Fletchers bakery has over 125 years of baking tradition, with our Kara bakery supplying delicious wholesale bakery products for over 35 years starting with the first floured bap. The Role
As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering a proactively planned preventative maintenance programme across site assets. Your focus will be on reducing unexpected breakdowns, improving equipment reliability, and extending asset life, all while supporting production efficiency and food safety standards.
Working closely with the Reliability Manager and Engineering Scheduler, you will ensure planned maintenance activities are effectively coordinated with production schedules and planned shutdowns.
This is what you'll actually do!
Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities to strict schedules
Prepare for maintenance work by coordinating parts, tools, and resources in advance
Develop strong working knowledge of bakery process systems and machinery
Work as an active member of a skilled, cross-functional planned maintenance team
Support installation, modification, and improvement projects on plant and equipment
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Hygiene standards at all times
Actively contribute to a Continuous Improvement culture, supporting the site Operating Brilliance Process (OBP)
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and reduce waste
Assist in the training and development of fellow engineers, operator-technicians, and colleagues
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and good engineering practices

Previous experience in plant or engineering maintenance
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
A thorough, detail-oriented approach to maintenance work
Literate and numerate, with basic PC skills
Flexible and reliable, with excellent timekeeping and attendance
Desirable:
Mechanical Engineering qualifications or experience
Apprentice trained
Machining skills or experience
IPAF trained
FMCG or food manufacturing experience
