ASA UK & Ireland is part of one of Europe's largest independent metal packaging manufacturers -- a family-owned Italian group with over 50 years in the metal packaging industry.

We operate 7 plants across the UK, Italy, and Switzerland, producing a wide range of rectangular tins, paint cans, aerosols, pails, and drums for customers in more than 30 countries. Our products serve industries including chemicals, paints, edible oils, and dry foods.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced multi-skilled Shift Maintenance Engineer to maintain, repair, and improve high-speed manufacturing equipment. You'll handle both planned and reactive maintenance, working closely with production teams to keep our lines running at their best.

What you'll do:

Diagnose and repair machinery faults quickly and safely Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance tasks Support continuous improvement and engineering projects Work on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and fabrication systems Keep accurate maintenance records and ensure all work meets H&S standards

About You

You're a time-served engineer with a City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and at least 10 years' post-apprenticeship experience in a high-speed manufacturing setting (FMCG, automotive, or similar).

We're looking for:

Strong mechanical skills (turning, milling, pneumatics, hydraulics, welding and fabrication) Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs A team player who's proactive and safety-conscious

Desirable but not essential:

Experience with tinplate or steel packaging machinery Electrical maintenance or PLC fault-finding skills
