St Peters Garden Centre is a family run garden centre offering the very best quality plants, indoor and outdoor goods, gardening equipment and a very high-quality range of garden furniture and BBQ's. We also have a Farm Shop / Butchery and an award-winning restaurant. St Peters, pride ourselves on high standards of customer service and have an excellent team of qualified staff providing gardening advice.
Customer experience is extremely important to us, and having the right people, in the right places, at the right time is key to making this work.

This role ideally requires a lover of indoor plants, no formal qualifications in horticulture is required but someone with a passion for caring for beautiful indoor plants is desirable. When not tending to plants, the role is based in various departments around the garden centre providing our loyal customers with a first class service whether it be in giftware, outdoor living or in the garden shop. So a flexible 'can do' attitude is a must. The successful candidate would relish the chance to work as part of a team creatively creating displays and would always aim to build up a rapport with our customers starting with a big welcoming smile.

We would also consider supporting this role with an apprenticeship in Retail for the right candidate and would welcome applications from individuals who are interested in pursuing this career pathway.

Main Tasks



The care and maintenance of plants within our Houseplant department (maximum 2 days a week) Remaining hours/days allocated to busiest area in the garden centre so a customer can spot a member of staff at all times. Coordinating with your colleagues to ensure all departments are staffed at all times maximising customer services. Greeting and approaching customers who come into your area and checking if they need help or advice. Taking customers to the product they are searching for. Finding out if we stock a product. If we're out of stock, finding out when we will have it back in stock Providing product information. Putting customers in touch with the right person who can answer their query. Taking customer orders informing relevant buyer of requirement using correct form. Carrying product to the tills and or to the car where need be. Plant care. Receiving / Unloading deliveries Receiving Stock onto the system following GRN process Creating Purchase Orders where required, following agreed procedures, Ensuring all stock is priced correctly. Investigating any stock discrepancies. Replenishing stock / topping up, pulling forward Till operative (full training will be given) Cover for the Customer service info desk
