Summary

To prepare, cook, and present a diverse range of high-quality meals that meet dietary needs, customer preferences, and food safety standards. The role requires flexibility, creativity, and the ability to work across various cuisines and food preparation methods.

Key Responsibilities:



Prepare and cook meals from multiple cuisines (e.g., traditional, continental, vegetarian, ethnic, or dietary-specific meals). Design and update menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal and local ingredients. Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen in line with food safety standards. Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure minimal food waste. Cater to special dietary requirements (e.g., gluten-free, diabetic, halal, vegetarian). Handle meal prep for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and occasional events or functions. Assist with staff meals, buffets, and bespoke catering requests when required. Monitor food presentation and portion control to ensure consistency and appeal. Train or support junior kitchen staff where needed. Follow health and safety procedures, including allergen control and HACCP principles.

Person Specification:



Essential:



Proven experience in diverse cooking styles and kitchen environments. Strong knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and allergen management. Ability to plan menus and cook at scale without compromising quality. Flexible, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Desirable:



Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent). Knowledge of nutritional needs in specialist settings (e.g., schools, care homes, private households). Experience with catering for events or multicultural settings.
