Targeting audiences interested in the region in English language speaking countries and communities, led by the UK, North America, South and East Asia, and Australia/New Zealand.

The New Arab's diverse newsroom offers a platform for the voice of the Middle East and aims to provoke an exchange of ideas and open discussion in a responsible manner via news, in-depth analysis and comment. We have a large pool of journalists from all backgrounds, allowing us to provide fruitful and insightful reporting on cultural and social issues, as well as political and humanitarian issues.

The New Arab is the English sister publication of Arabic daily newspaper and online news outlet Al-Araby Al-Jadeed and is part of the Fadaat Media network, which allows us to leverage sprawling networks of correspondents in the region and their high-quality output, as well as its own resources.

Job Overview

:

The Multimedia Journalist will exhibit high standards in producing creative content for The New Arab's website and social media pages. They will hold strong technical skills that will enable them to work independently to create consistent, creative and timely multimedia content.

They will be required to work closely with the Managing Editor and senior editorial team to create a short term and long-term content strategy for the Multimedia Department (in-line with TNA's editorial priorities).

They will have a working knowledge of the Arabic language and be tuned in to the political, historical and cultural fabric in the MENA region, which enables them to identify key trends and topics.

Please note that this is a fixed term contract for up to one year.

Responsibilities and Duties:



Edit and craft short-form video and multimedia projects on quick timelines in collaboration with internal teams for The New Arab and it's social media platforms.

Produce compelling creative content for the TNA's website and social media pages.

Successfully source interviewees and participants for multimedia production.

Produce live events on all of the TNA's social media platforms.

Develop and integrate produce animations, graphics, infographics in a video context

Edit video to include preselected music, interviews, sound clips and other important aspects of the project.

Responsible for ensuring all multimedia content produced by The New Arab is in accordance with copyright and/or licensing regulation.

Research hot / key topics in the MENA region and provide timely proposals for content.

Produce content for social media and video platforms - YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc.

Analyse multimedia performance traffic and improve TNA services.

Always on the lookout for interesting and dynamic stories

Requirements:



1-3 years' experience in a similar role.

Experience of industry-standard editing tools e.g. Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier, After effects and post production.

Strong Photoshop experience.

Experience editing various video projects and inserting sound effects, music, and transitions.

Bachelor's degree in film editing or related degree is required.

Ability to edit to a high standard

Experience of creating graphics and multimedia content.

Professional mastery of video and audio editing software and programs.

To be familiar with a variety of social media platforms, and to ensure all content produced adheres to The New Arab's social media strategy to drive traffic and increase engagement.

Interactive skills that will enable them to produce creative visual data.

Excellent communication skills and work efficiently in a team.

Must be entrepreneurial, a problem-solver and creative thinker.

Ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced daily news environment.

Extreme attention to detail and organizational practices.

Ability to multitask and work towards several milestones on various projects simultaneously.

Desirable:



Creative experience in filmmaking and videography.

Knowledge of a 3D package would be an advantage.

Have a solid understanding of project scope and implementation.
