Job objectives and responsibilities
Position overview:
Mitie are in year 21 of the 25-year Armada PFI Contract delivering Hard and Soft Services in support of the Naval Base accommodation areas (HMS DRAKE) and some local remote locations.
We are currently looking for an EXPERIENCED Multi-skilled engineers to join our team and form part of a new and recently created maintenance/Internal Delivery cell. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of minor works, small projects, remedial/reactive works, lifecycle, PPM, Compliance and add-value works. You will be meeting with clients and customers on a daily basis so good spoken English is required.
Duties will include general maintenance work, carpentry, building work, plumbing, electrical work, decorating (Painting/plastering) and tiling (including carpet fitting). Individuals will also be trained in fire door maintenance/rectification, PAT and form part of a rotating compliance cell supporting all aspects of regulatory legislation. Training can be provided but industry experience will be required. Successful candidates will be carrying out general reactive maintenance, unsupervised, in accommodation and office locations across the Armada licecenced site. This position is demanding and fast-paced which requires applicants to use own their initiative and be good at problem-solving while maintaining professionalism and a great eye for detail.
Main duties
To take direction and instruction from the senior supervisor and carry out works (Main trade and associated works) throughout the Armada licence site.
Deliver operational aspects:
To demonstrate a high level of customer care, reporting to and liaising with the Senior Supervisor to ensure efficient service delivery
To maintain all internal and external building fabric to a high standard in accordance with the Planned Maintenance system and reactive work requests
Complete works (lifecycle/small projects) to a standard that is consistent within a high status environment
To assist in carrying out risk assessments and safe working methods in relation to all work
that is carried out.
Form part of a rotating two man compliance cell.
Attend meetings as requested.
To carry out emergency repairs to various buildings etc when requested by Supervisor/line manager.
To act responsibly and be diligent in carrying out core duties
To comply with Health and Safety legislation
Carrying out the necessary Health and Safety risk assessments when on site (RAMS, PPE, etc)
Adhering in all aspects of work according to the regulatory standards
Must be prepared to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding and work in confined spaces
and in a variety of work conditions that may prevail at that time
Must be prepared to undertake any additional training associated with the specific
requirements of the trade, as well as training in Diversity and Inclusion
Person Specification
Experience & Knowledge Essential:
Proven experience of working in a fast paced facilities management environment
Experience in 2 or multiple trades (painting/decorating, carpentry, tiling, plumbing,)
Previous client facing experience
Ability to read and interpret schematics accurately.
Strong problem-solving skills, with a logical approach to troubleshooting issues.
Organising and allocating operative workload in association with the program
Tool box talks & health and safety monitoring
Delivering high quality workmanship across a varied programme of small and lifecycle works
Adherence to agreed programme of work
