About the Role



We are recruiting for a NAP Weld Machinist to join our team at the Oldham site. We are one of the UK's leading manufacturers of fire sprinkler pipework, supplying critical components for safety systems nationwide.

This is a hands-on, workshop-based role for an experienced welder with strong fabrication skills. You will be responsible for operating and programming our NAP welding machine using engineering drawings, as well as performing high-quality MIG and Stick welding to produce sprinkler pipework to strict specifications. You will play a vital role in ensuring our products are safe, precise, and manufactured to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities



Welding & Machine Operation



Operate and programme the NAP welding machine based on information extracted from engineering drawings. Carry out MIG and Stick welding on steel pipework to required standards. Use measuring equipment to ensure precise dimensions. Perform accurate welds that meet production and quality expectations. Conduct visual inspections of your welds before moving items to the next production stage.

Quality & Safety



Identify and rectify defects including pinholes, undercuts, and porosity. Patch up any imperfections and rework where necessary to ensure product integrity. Grind and finish welds where specified to meet surface and visual quality standards. Adhere to company safety procedures and wear the appropriate PPE at all times. Keep work area clean and organised, maintaining a safe and efficient workspace.

Teamwork & Communication



Work collaboratively with the fabrication and finishing teams to meet production targets. Communicate any issues, delays or defects clearly to supervisors or quality control. Support a culture of continuous improvement through proactive problem-solving.

What We're Looking For



Essential:



Previous experience working as a welder in a manufacturing or engineering environment (you will be required to complete a weld test at interview process). Previous experience operating a NAP welding machine. Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings. Confident operating welding machinery and hand tools. Solid experience in MIG and Stick welding. Ability to spot weld defects and perform rework. Strong understanding of health and safety in a workshop setting.

Desirable:



Experience working with sprinkler or fire protection pipework. Fabrication or pipefitting background.
