. This pivotal role will drive strategic growth, manage a high-performing team of 7 direct reports, and ensure the achievement of national sales targets across multiple channels including retail, wholesale, and e-commerce.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
+ Lead, coach, and develop a team of 7 regional sales/account managers. through ongoing training and development, and mentoring.
+ Set clear objectives, KPIs, and performance standards.
+ Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Sales Strategy & Execution
+ Develop and implement national sales strategies aligned with business goals.
+ Identify growth opportunities and new market segments within the pet industry.
+ Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform strategy.
+ Manage a small number of major national account.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, distributors, and retail partners.
+ Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
Reporting & Analysis
+ Track and report on sales performance, forecasts, and budget adherence.
+ Use data-driven insights to optimize sales activities and resource allocation.
Cross-functional Collaboration
+ Work closely with Marketing, Operations and Trading teams to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.
Requirements
Strong background in the
Pet Market
- ideally with experience in pet food or pet accessories.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and commercial acumen.
Willingness to travel nationally as required.
Experience working with major UK retailers and pet specialty chains.
Desirable
Demonstrated success in leading and developing sales teams would be an advantage.
Familiarity with CRM systems and sales performance tools.
Passion for pets and the pet industry.
