Job summary




His Majesty's Naval Base Clyde (HMNB Clyde) is home to the United Kingdom's Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, Astute Class Attack Submarines, First Mine Counter Measure Squadron and 43 Cdo Royal Marines. It is an operational support and maintenance base, within the Navy Command TLB and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites. HMNB Clyde's primary purpose is to provide engineering and logistical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year.



RNAD Coulport is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of the Trident Weapon System and the ammunitioning of all submarine-embarked tactical weapons.

Job description




1. The KHM Projects Manager is accountable to The King's Harbour Master for the execution of their duties and responsibilities.

2. To be responsible for the provision of project support on all matters that affect Port Safety and to continually develop the Port to ensure it operates in a safe, efficient and effective manner.

3. To identify and sponsor all new KHM projects.

4. Manage the contract for the Port VTS and Radio systems to ensure the quality of service meets the required regulatory standards.

5. To lead on KHM' berthing and berthing related projects.

6. To lead on KHM safety and conservancy projects.

7. To lead on KHM Outstations projects.

8. To lead on KHM Asset Management activities, ensuring all assets are fit for purpose (including the disposal of redundant items)

9. To be KHMs representative on project related meetings.

10. To be the KHM interface with Finance and Commercial teams on all KHM matters

11. To liaise with NBC Finance and Commercial teams to ensure finance and commercial propriety requirements are met on all KHM contracts.

12. To line manage personnel, including effective training and development, for all staff under their line management.

13. Any other appropriate tasks requested by line management.###

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.


External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
