NEONATAL UNIT - Staff Nurse (12 month fixed term contract)

We are a Level 2 Neonatal Unit, dedicated to delivering high-quality care to sick and preterm infants in partnership with their families. Our unit provides intensive care, high dependency, and special care, supported by a skilled team of Advanced Neonatal Practitioners, Clinical Educators, and a well-established Community Outreach Team that facilitates early discharge and care at home.



Whether you're experienced or just starting out in neonatal care, we'll support you every step of the way. You'll benefit from a comprehensive preceptorship and competency programme, along with access to specialty education and training to help you grow and thrive in your role.



To develop skills and knowledge in the care of special care babies and with further support and training progress to care of high dependency/intensive care babies. Staff will be offered the opportunity to undertake the Neonatal Foundation course and Neonatal Intensive Care course.



To manage and organize care for a group of babies and their families/ carers , prioritizing care according to need.



To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for babies and their family's ensuring excellence in practice is maintained .



To communicate effectively w ith families/ carers to ensure that information needs are met and to fac ilitate parental involvement in decision making.



To perform additional clinical roles relevant to the specialty and participate in the training, supervision and assessment of others learning these roles.



To ensure that accurate records are maintained for each patient.



To participate in the development and evaluation of new techniques in patient care in consultation with medical and other professional staff and to co-operate with staff participation in ethical research.



To help maintain motivation of the neonatal team and encourage staff development of knowledge and expertise .



To promote awareness and implementation of research-based practices relating to neonatology.



To provide care within the Neonatal Unit and Transitional care .
