We are looking for an experienced and talented Network Manager to lead and develop a team of IT professionals in delivering network and telephony services across the university. The Network Manager will sit within our Projects and Services Team, who are responsible for the management, operation and development of the network and telephony services to over 50,000 users.

The Network Manager opportunity comes at an exciting time, as the University prepares to complete its full network replacement project. The successful candidate will play a key role in the project\'s second phase, to maximise benefits from the recent \'first phase\' investment and take the network to the next level.

The role offers a salary of \xc2\xa345,585 - \xc2\xa354,395 pa, depending on experience, and reports to the Communications Infrastructure Services Manager. The role benefits from the option for hybrid working, combining a mix of remote and regular on-campus working to ensure service needs are met.

The team would prefer a full-time (35hrs pw) working pattern, however are committed to offering flexibility so would consider flexible working options where possible.

Responsibilities for the role include:

  • Managing a network built on HPE/Aruba technology consisting of 4 core routers, 17 distribution routers, over 3000 switches and 6500 WAPs.
  • Holding responsibility for the organisations wired and wireless data network, and telephone system.
  • Managing a team of 12 colleagues, comprised of network engineers, network planners and telephony engineers.
  • Providing technical leadership to further develop services and systems.
  • Reviewing system performance and planning capacity to ensure any growth is managed and meets organisational requirements.
  • Working closely with project management colleagues to ensure quality delivery of network and telephony projects that support the services run by Communications Infrastructure Services.

About the Team:

The Communications Infrastructure section is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the University\'s data network, the telephone system, external connections to other networks, and for managing the access control door and alarm monitoring system. There are about 82,000 ports on the data network, 11,000 telephone extensions, 600 access control doors and

1,000 alarms. The turnover of the new section exceeds \xc2\xa32.5M annually. The section has about 30 staff, and comprises three very busy and hard-working teams which are dedicated to providing an excellent service to University staff, students and external stakeholders.
