The City of Doncaster Council is a confident, ambitious organisation which puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. You have a opportunity to be part of this in the role of Night Support Worker.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Housing & Independence Service as Night Support Worker for supported accommodation. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to support staff with our young people on their road to independence.

We are committed to ensuring that experienced young people transition successfully to living independently. It is recognised that young people achieve independence at different ages linked to their cognitive ability, early life experiences, resilience and their experiences with regulated care settings. Taking this in to account we developed the Housing & Independence service.

The young people will also complete the Key to My Future preparation for independence programme. This well-established programme was developed collaboratively with our young people leaving care and focuses on the practical aspects of managing a tenancy and living independently. All the work they complete on the programme will be processed through to AQA's unit award scheme for accreditation certificates.

The Housing & Independence service utilises the Trusts Psychological services to provide formulations of the young people prior to them starting the programme as well as a dialectical behavioural Therapy based programme. Once ready, they will move into an identified outreach accommodation which is the next phase of the project.

The applicant will need:

To have experience of working with young people, children in care and care leavers. To be a supportive and inspirational member of the support team. To have some experience of therapeutic approaches and a willingness to develop them within in the service. To be an innovative and creative thinker who looks for opportunities to improve the offer to our young people.
In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, a generous local government pension scheme, a wide range of well-being support and development opportunities. You will also have access to a range of staff discount and benefits schemes. More information on the benefits available to you as a City of Doncaster Council employee can be found in the attached benefits book.

Please ensure you view the job summary and job profile as you will need to demonstrate in your application form how you meet the required criteria.

Shortlisting will take place 12th August 2025 and it is anticipated that interviews will be held on 20th August 2025.
