Role Overview:
We are seeking compassionate, dedicated Night (awaking duties) Support Workers to join our team. This role involves providing overnight care and support to children and young people, ensuring their safety, comfort, and emotional needs are met during the night. This position is supported with a member of the day staff team sleeping in and on call if needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide attentive and respectful support to children during the night, including assisting with settling, routines, and safeguarding.
- Monitor the well-being of children through regular checks and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies or night-time issues.
- Promote a calm and therapeutic environment conducive to restful sleep and emotional stability.
- Follow care plans and risk assessments to ensure individual needs are met.
- Work collaboratively with day staff to ensure seamless care continuity.
- Domestic cleaning, laundry and general maintaining of a standard of cleanliness and tidiness across the home setting.
- Supporting day staff with morning routines.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience in a care environment, ideally within a children's or therapeutic setting, is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic with a genuine desire to support children.
- Ability to remain calm, vigilant, and professional during night-time responsibilities.
- Good level of literacy and IT ability to complete reports and documentation
- Hold a UK drivers licence and willingness to drive if required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience working with children in a residential or similar setting is preferred, with knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and social pedagogy.
- Understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children's emotional and behavioural patterns.
-A level 3 in health & social care qualification, or demonstrable willingness to work towards on successful completion of probationary period.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and team members.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Subject to safer recruitment checks, including enhance DBS and right to work checks.
