Duties

Provide direct patient care during night shifts, including assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medication administration in accordance with established protocols. Deliver specialized treatments such as wound suturing, IV infusions, catheterizations, and ventilator management to meet diverse patient needs. Conduct thorough patient evaluations and triage assessments to prioritize urgent cases and coordinate appropriate interventions. Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Cerner or Athenahealth while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Administer injections, perform phlebotomy, and manage aseptic techniques to ensure safe and effective clinical procedures. Support patients with complex conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or developmental disabilities by providing compassionate care tailored to individual needs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and case managers to develop and implement personalized care plans. Monitor patients' physiological responses during treatments like dialysis, cardiac catheterization recovery, or trauma stabilization in Level I or Level II trauma centers. Assist in emergency situations utilizing advanced airway management skills and basic life support (BLS) techniques to stabilize patients promptly. Educate patients and their families on health management strategies including pain control, medication adherence, nutrition, and discharge planning. Ensure infection control standards are rigorously followed through proper sterilization procedures and use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Qualifications

Valid registered nurse license (RN) with current registration in the applicable jurisdiction. Proven experience working in acute care settings such as hospitals, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or emergency rooms. Demonstrated proficiency in medical-surgical nursing practices along with familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation. Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient patient record management. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to diverse clinical scenarios. Skilled in performing complex procedures including suturing, tube feeding management, sterile processing techniques, and specimen collection/processing. Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care. Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach toward patients with behavioral health needs or those requiring memory care or hospice & palliative medicine services. Critical care experience preferred; familiarity with trauma medicine at Level I or Level II trauma centers is advantageous. Additional certifications such as BLS/ACLS/PALS are highly desirable to enhance emergency response capabilities.
