We're looking for a highly skilled and proactive

No.1 Cutting Operative

to join our team at Kolorcraft. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for leading our cutting operations, ensuring top-tier quality and efficiency on every shift.

Here's what you'll be doing:



Leading Your Team:

Manage and control operatives on your shift, including Digital Finishing operatives, fostering a safe and highly productive environment. Engage in job rotation with your team to enhance skills and flexibility. Monitor and control staff breaks to maintain workflow. Train and mentor Cutting Operatives, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and efficient work practices. Set a strong example for your team through your machine performance and conduct. Address and report absence, lateness, or any personnel issues to HR.

Optimising Production & Quality:

Utilise all equipment and processes for optimum productivity and high-quality standards. Conduct thorough QC checks for first-off and mid-run productions. Ensure all jobs are completed within allowed times, using KPI boards to drive efficiency and visibility. Run a work-to-list for digital finishing functions at 6 am daily. Work to specific instructions from the Manufacturing Manager/Finishing Supervisor for production priorities. Monitor completion of job tickets and pallet labels for all produced work. Highlight any potential capacity issues to the supervisor and manager. Ensure all resources (staff, equipment, materials) are utilised and allocated efficiently to meet production targets. Ensure all staff follow the production plan and are aware of their responsibilities. Ensure all staff follow instructions to produce work to the required specification and quality standards. Ensure all operators input information for job operations into the Data Collection system correctly. Identify, review, and document non-conformances (NCR investigations).

Operating & Maintaining Machinery:

Carry out all finishing requirements on printed media. Operate all machinery within the department, including Platens, Guillotines, Esko cutting tables, and drills. Operate Reach truck and counterbalance forklifts. Ensure all machinery is utilised as efficiently as possible. Perform daily start-up procedures, including safety checks, routine maintenance, and minor repairs. Report any breakdowns or faults to maintenance immediately.

Ensuring Safety & Compliance:

Ensure all processes are carried out within health and safety guidelines and all safety checks are performed as required. Ensure all staff are working safely and complying with all relevant health and safety requirements. Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Effective Communication & Housekeeping:

Maintain clear communication between shifts, departments, and management. Assist and liaise with warehouse and purchasing departments on production requirements. Maintain a good level of housekeeping throughout the department and ensure waste is disposed of according to recycling requirements.

Problem-Solving & Development:

Address issues related to machinery breakdowns, production delays, and quality control. Evaluate and analyse the responsibilities of each Cutting Operative in terms of knowledge, skills, complexity, and performance.
