In particular, the post holder will be responsible for:
The preparation and service of foods to the required standards as directed by the Nursery Management.
To assist in the implementation of the typical day within the Nursery and support other team members across the Nursery Service as appropriate. This includes using relevant transferable skills in other areas of the nursery where required.
Support the children in serving their own food, milk, drinks, and snacks and encourage good nutrition and sociable eating.
Free up Nursery Practitioners to ensure required ratios are covered when they take a break.
To assist with clearing away of lunchtime meals and drinks, which includes but is not limited to: light cleaning duties, crockery, cutlery, and pan washing.
Undertake agreed deep cleaning routines across all areas of the nursery to comply with Food Standards Agency and Health & Safety requirements. This includes thorough cleaning of all playrooms, kitchens, toilets, changing areas, and shared spaces.
Ensure all cleaning activities are conducted in line with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations, using cleaning products safely and storing them appropriately to prevent harm to children and staff.
Carry out nursery laundry tasks, including the washing, drying, and folding of bedding, towels, cloths, and any other washable nursery items as needed.
Assisting with regular stock checks of food, cleaning supplies, and other kitchen/nursery materials.
Advising the Nursery Manager of repairs and maintenance needs within kitchen or cleaning facilities.
Undertaking to provide and produce the necessary records and information systems appropriate to the post and the needs of the team. These include but are not limited to: Food temperature records, Allergen lists, cleaning records, and food standard audits.
Undertaking all appropriate training and staff development activity in accordance with a planned programme of development for the post.
Ensuring that all skills are kept current and updated with changes in legislation, and consistent with relevant qualifications.
Maintaining a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with the Nursery's Health and Safety policies and procedures and Food Hygiene regulations.
Maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
To always ensure the safety of children and adults, adhering to the Health and Safety policies and procedures. This includes but is not limited to: completing risk assessments, supervising the children arriving/leaving the Nursery, and visually checking equipment and resources.
Ensure that all relevant work activities underpin the commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. Any concerns about a child/young person must be acted on promptly, clearly recorded, and referred to the Nursery DSL or DSD.
To record and report incidents related to allegations or whistleblowing on staff members who have breached Child Protection and Safeguarding policies and legislation.
Undertaking any other duties and responsibilities as may be determined after negotiation between management, the post holder, and appropriate Trade Unions
