We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our outstanding team at Little Holcombe Nursery. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and a strong understanding of food safety practices. As a Cook, you will be responsible for managing stock levels, preparing high-quality meals for our children that meet our standards, whilst ensuring a clean and organised kitchen environment.
You will be working on your own, but support and training will be given.
Responsibilities
Prepare, cook and serve a variety of dishes on a weekly basis.
Cook for 80 children per day.
Prepare the snacks and teas for the children, ensuring they healthy and nutritious.
Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
Carry out regular training and keep up to date with new legislation.
Manage meal preparation.
Maintain and manage the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
Collaborate with nursery staff to ensure all the children's dietary requirements are catered for.
Monitor food stock levels and prepare an inventory for the following week.
Participate in menu planning and contribute ideas for new dishes or improvements.
Maintain up to date kitchen records.
Have a positive 'can-do' attitude!
Qualifications
Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred, with a focus on food preparation and cooking.
Food Hygiene qualification.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is essential.
Strong culinary skills with the ability to follow recipes accurately.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in meal preparation.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to cover at our sister nursery if required.
A passion for cooking and helping our children have a good relationship with food.
A knowledge of allergens and the importance of special dietary requirements.
