Overview

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic

Nursery Cook

to join our friendly team. This important role is perfect for someone who loves preparing nutritious, tasty meals and understands how vital healthy food is for young children's growth and development.

As our Nursery Cook, you'll help create a warm, welcoming environment by providing balanced meals that children enjoy, all while maintaining excellent standards of hygiene and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of healthy, child-friendly meals and snacks following our menus and nutritional guidelines. Support the planning of weekly menus to ensure they are well-balanced, cater for dietary needs, and encourage children to enjoy a range of foods. Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with all food hygiene and safety standards. Manage stock levels, check deliveries, and inform management of any shortages or requirements. Maintain accurate records for food safety, including temperature checks and allergen information. Work closely with the nursery team to ensure mealtimes are a happy, social experience for the children. Occasionally involve the children in simple food activities to help them learn about healthy eating.

Requirements

Experience working as a cook or in a similar role -- ideally within a nursery, school, or care setting. Good understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations (a Food Hygiene certificate is an advantage). A genuine passion for preparing nutritious meals and supporting children's health and wellbeing. Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team. Friendly communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.

This vacancy is from 9.30am-1.30pm Monday-Friday, all year round.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
