The successful candidate will prepare and serve nutritious, well-presented meals suitable for children under the age of five. You will ensure that all meals are in line with our current menus, meet individual dietary requirements, and adhere to food hygiene standards.
Key Requirements:
Prior experience in a nursery or care home kitchen setting
Knowledge of infant and early childhood nutrition
Understanding of special dietary needs (e.g. allergies, intolerances, cultural preferences, vegetarian diets)
Familiarity with Safer Food, Better Businessrecord-keeping and food temperature monitoring
Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation:
Prepare morning snacks for nursery rooms
Cook balanced, age-appropriate lunches and pureed meals for babies
Provide nutritious afternoon snacks
Kitchen Hygiene & Organisation:
Maintain cleanliness in all kitchen areas in line with Health & Safety regulations
Clean and tidy the kitchen daily, following our cleaning checklist
Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, report faults promptly
Rotate dry store stock and complete weekly shopping orders
Defrost fridges/freezers regularly to ensure optimal performance
General Kitchen Duties:
Wash up and handle general cleaning tasks
Organise kitchen spaces efficiently
Record Keeping & Inventory:
Maintain stock checks and place supply orders
Verify invoices against deliveries, report to the Nursery Manager
Oversee kitchen audits and inspections, ensuring standards are upheld
Additional Expectations:
Attend staff meetings and training sessions
Take ownership of kitchen equipment, ensuring replacements are managed as needed
