Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a part time Nursery Cook.

This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen on 3 set days every week, delivering high-quality meals to our babies and children.

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for providing children's heathy meals and a strong understanding of food safety practices, including the importance of managing food allergies and dietary requirements.

It is essential that the candidate has the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and/or cook a variety of nursery meals according to established methods and standards. Establish meal preparation, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and properly stored. Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the nursery kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations, risk assessments and nursery policies and procedure. Collaborate with our other nursery cook and housekeeper to ensure a consistency of service. Handle food items with care, ensuring proper techniques are used for cooking and serving. Participate in menu planning and contribute innovative ideas for new dishes. Monitor stock levels of ingredients and assist our housekeeper in stock management and weekly orders.

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment. Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in meal preparation. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues. A passion for food and a commitment to promoting healthy meals to children.
