Requirements



At least two satisfactory relevant references Clear awareness of allergens and health and safety processes within the kitchen Candidate must have kitchen experience Current Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to gain Paediatric First Aid Certificate or willingness to gain Experience in Childcare desirable.

Main Duties



We are looking for someone to run our Moat Barn kitchen and prepare nutritious and delicious meals for the nursery and maintain a tidy kitchen/work area. This role would include preparing for individual children's dietary needs such as allergies and intolerances.
Although you would be based in the kitchen we view our cook as an integral part of our team.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about food, health and creating tasty menus! Ideally you would have experience of a similar role and have your food hygiene certificate.

To implement and promote all Moat Barn policies and the Staff Rules. To understand and demonstrate the importance of high standards for food safety, hygiene and cleanliness. Your main duties will be to serve children's hot and cold lunches and teas with associated kitchen and housekeeping duties. To have an understanding of children's development, their needs and the provision of positive play. To demonstrate a genuine love for children. To ensure their safety at all times. To attend staff meetings and training courses as directed. To work as part of that team and contribute positively to the staff team. To go about your duties with a positive and enthusiastic attitude - to be organised, efficient, confident, hardworking and conscientious. To provide a role model of good practice to other members of staff. To promote at all times good relations between staff members, parents and children, and at all times promote the good name and ethos of Moat Barn Nursery.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Essential



A willingness to gain relevant qualifications, if appropriate. An ability to create high quality meals including catering for allergies and intolerances A willingness to create exciting seasonal menus A basic understanding of children's development, their needs and the provision of positive play. A commitment to the theory and practice of equal opportunities.. An ability to work on own initiative. A willingness to learn the policies and procedures of Moat Barn and to abide by the staff rules. A willingness to adhere to the Moat Barn dress code. A willingness to work as part of and contribute positively to the staff team. A willingness to attend staff meetings, training courses..
