We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Deputy Nursery Manager (Maternity Cover) to join our team at The Cheshire Day Nursery and Kindergarten - Latchford.

This is a key leadership role supporting the Nursery Manager in ensuring that high standards of care, education, and operational excellence are maintained throughout the setting. The successful candidate will model outstanding practice, contribute to staff development, and play a crucial role in achieving and maintaining an Outstanding Ofsted rating.

Key Responsibilities



Support and actively promote the safety, security, and well-being of all children, staff, and visitors at all times. Work closely with the Nursery Manager to lead the setting towards achieving and sustaining an Outstanding Ofsted grading. Model and promote Outstanding practice across all rooms, providing guidance and support to staff where needed. Assist in delivering and reviewing cohort action plans in collaboration with Room Managers. Contribute to the collection and analysis of data for the Local Authority, and share insights with the Nursery Management Team. Support staff with their Continuous Professional Development (CPD), including monthly audits of CPD logs, helping them deepen their knowledge, skills, and role understanding. Uphold and represent the values of The Cheshire Day Nursery Group, understanding your role within the wider management team and contributing to high standards of care and education. Foster strong and respectful partnerships with parents and carers, ensuring clear and positive communication. Support the day-to-day operational duties, including staff deployment, rotas, ratios, and room supervision. Lead on safeguarding, health & safety, and inclusion practices to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe, nurturing environment. Provide leadership and mentoring to staff, including involvement in supervisions, appraisals, and team meetings. Be proactive in preparing for and contributing to Ofsted inspections and internal audits.

Required Skills & Experience



Level 3 or above in Early Years Education (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, NNEB). Minimum 2 years' experience in a nursery setting, with leadership responsibilities. Sound understanding of the EYFS framework, safeguarding, and Ofsted expectations. A proactive, flexible, and positive attitude with strong leadership and mentoring skills. Excellent communication and organisational abilities. Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, and Food Hygiene qualifications (or willingness to complete).
