Job Title: Nursery Deputy Manager

Responsible to: Nursery Manager
Pay scale: 24,404 FTE
Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term
time and 5 training days only)
8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday - Friday
Purpose of the Role
To support the Nursery Manager in delivering high-quality early years education and care for
children aged 0-5.
To lead and inspire a team of practitioners, ensuring compliance with EYFS, Ofsted, and all
statutory requirements.
To act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead and ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating
environment.
To liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to support each child's development.
To deputise for the Nursery Manager in their absence and contribute to the strategic
development of the setting.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Supervise and support staff, including appraisals, inductions, and training.
Lead by example in delivering outstanding childcare and education.

Manage student placements and volunteers.
Curriculum & Learning
Plan and deliver a play-based EYFS curriculum tailored to individual needs.
Monitor and track children's progress through observations and assessments.
Promote inclusive practices and support children with additional needs.
Undertake the statutory 2-Year Progress Check for all children aged 24-36 months,
reviewing development in the prime areas (Communication and Language, Physical
Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development), identifying concerns, and
working in partnership with parents and professionals.
Safeguarding & Welfare
Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment indoors and outdoors.
Operations & Compliance
Ensure the nursery meets Ofsted and statutory requirements.
Maintain accurate records and reports.
Support financial processes including petty cash and ordering.
Contribute to self-evaluation and improvement planning.
Partnerships
Build strong relationships with parents and carers.
Liaise with external professionals and agencies.
Promote parental involvement and communication.
General
Responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at the Academy.
