Nursery Deputy Manager

Job Description

Are you a passionate and experienced childcare professional looking for the next step in your career? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Deputy Manager to join our team. This role will be a hybrid of room and office based and will also cover the manager's responsibilities in their absence, providing essential support to ensure the smooth running of our nursery.

Key Responsibilities:



Room-Based Leadership

: Lead by example while working in one of the rooms, ensuring high-quality childcare and education, and fostering a positive, nurturing environment.

Managerial Support

: Assist the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day management of the nursery, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed and that the nursery remains compliant with Ofsted regulations.

Team Leadership

: Supervise, mentor, and support staff to maintain high standards of care, learning, and development. Promote teamwork and create a positive working environment.

Parent Partnership

: Build strong, trusting relationships with parents, addressing any concerns and maintaining clear communication regarding their child's progress and wellbeing.

Health and Safety

: Ensure a safe and stimulating environment, adhering to health and safety regulations, safeguarding children's welfare, and conducting regular risk assessments.

Covering Manager's Role

: Act as the Nursery Manager during periods of absence, taking full responsibility for operations, decision-making, and staff management.

Qualifications and Experience:



Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare. Previous experience in a supervisory or deputy manager role within a nursery or early years setting would be preferable. Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and Ofsted requirements. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage, inspire, and support a team. Experience of working directly with children in a room-based capacity. A passion for delivering high-quality childcare and creating a nurturing learning environment.
