Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director to lead and oversee our childcare centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily operations, ensuring high standards of early childhood education, and fostering a safe, nurturing environment for children. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for working with children. The Director will play a vital role in maintaining organisational excellence and promoting the centre's mission to support children's development and well-being.

Duties

Provide strategic leadership and oversee the overall management of the childcare centre Develop and implement policies and programmes aligned with early childhood education standards Supervise staff, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and ongoing professional development Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and health and safety standards Foster positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and the wider community Organise activities that promote children's learning, development, and socialisation Manage administrative tasks such as budgeting, record keeping, and reporting Lead initiatives to improve service quality and centre reputation Maintain open communication channels with staff, parents, and external agencies

Requirements

Proven management and leadership experience within childcare or nursery settings Extensive knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices Prior experience working with children is essential; nursery experience is highly desirable Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively Valid driving licence for transportation purposes if required by the role Passionate about child development and committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all children Ability to lead a team with empathy, professionalism, and enthusiasm

Overall leadership and management of the nursery Acting as the Nominated Individual with Ofsted Full responsibility for safeguarding and EYFS compliance Managing staff recruitment, supervision, and performance Ensuring high-quality care and education Leading Ofsted inspections and regulatory engagement Overseeing health & safety and operational compliance

Essential Requirements

Level 3 (or above) Early Years qualification Proven experience as a Nursery Manager / Director Strong knowledge of EYFS and safeguarding Right to work in the UK (British citizen or ILR) Willing and eligible to act as Nominated Individual Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable

Experience leading Ofsted inspections Leadership and people-management skills
