Nursery Manager

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate, ambitious and experienced Nursery Manager to lead Brook Green Nursery, a small Committee-run, not-for-profit setting in the beautiful area of Brook Green. With two spacious classrooms and a large outdoor space, the nursery offers a stimulating environment where children can thrive.

The Nursery Manager will provide strong, compassionate leadership and ensure the smooth day to day running of the nursery, delivering high-quality early years education and care in line with statutory requirements and our community focused ethos.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone committed to the highest standards of childcare, operational excellence, and fostering a positive, nurturing environment for both children and staff.

Key responsibilities:

Leadership and team development: Lead, inspire and support a team of childcare professionals, fostering a positive, collaborative and high performing work environment. Demonstrate genuine passion for early years education and take personal pride in the nursery's success - caring for the setting as if it were your own. Daily operations: Oversee the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring smooth operations, compliance with statutory requirements, and alignment with best practice in childcare. Quality assurance and inspections: Oversee safeguarding procedures and ensure all policies are up to date and followed, ensuring the effective implementation of all recommendations from Ofsted inspections, local authority adults, Environmental Health and Food Safety inspections, and any other external reviews. Educational programmes: Develop and implement age-appropriate learning and development programmes that promote children's progress across all areas, in line with the Early Years Foundation (EYFS). Compliance and Safety: Ensure the nursery environment is safe, secure, clean and conducive to learning through regular inspections, adherence to safeguarding practices, paediatric first aid, and health and safety standards. Parent and community engagement: Liaise with parents and carers about their children's needs, interests and progress through reports, meetings, feedback and ongoing communication, including maintaining an effective key person system. Recruiting and professional development: Oversee staff recruitment, inset days, training and performance management. Support continuous professional development to ensure a motivated and skilled workforce. Plan, chair and contribute to regular team meetings. Financial and business management: Manage nursery budgets, resources, financial planning and sustainability. Contribute to business growth through effective marketing strategies. Staying current: Keep up to date with developments in early childhood education, relevant legislation and childcare regulations, applying best practice to the nursery setting.
