An exciting opportunity has arisen at St. Winefrides Preschool. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic childcare assistant to work within our well-established setting. Experience working within a playgroup setting or with the foundation phase is essential.
The successful candidate should
Have a minimum of NVQ level 2 Childcare Qualification or recognised qualification in line with CIW guidelines.
Have knowledge and understanding of the CIW minimum standards.
Be able to work both as part of a team and use your own initiative
To be responsible and care for all children as a group or on a 1-to-1 basis within settings, expanding children's development through inclusive play and learning.
To model good practice and lead by example.
To work with children aged 2 - 5 years
Principal Accountabilities
Provide an inclusive enriched play environment in which children can develop physically, mentally and socially, feeling at ease and free to explore
Supervise the children at all times, ensuring that all policies and procedures are adhered to in accordance with legislation, regulation and CIW minimum standards (ECERS, ITERS, ESTYN, CIW and Healthy Preschool initiative)
Assist in preparing the materials and activities in the room to aid the children's play experiences and learning outcomes
Work within the Welsh Government programmes, e.g., Flying Start, Early Entitlement and Childcare Offer to ensure that each child's individual needs are respected, and recognised targets and goals are set both personally and developmentally for each child to ensure they meet the required outcomes
Act as a key worker for children within your care, ensuring communication with parents, under the guidance of the Lead, is of high importance, which includes enabling them to develop an understanding of the importance of play at each stage of the child's development.
Ensure that all routines are followed, and all relevant paperwork is up to date including children's records, early years and ALN paperwork, and recording of learning outcomes and assessments to ensure a smooth and efficient running of the room
Be responsible for administering First Aid if needed
Ensure all children are given the opportunity to participate and give their opinions and are listened to and treated with respect
Provide healthy snacks, meals and drinks to the children in line with the Healthy Preschools Initiative and dietetics advice
Contribute to maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
Undertake any additional duties as deemed appropriate.
Term time only, although salary is divide over 12 months. Monday to Friday, part-time and full time.
