Recruitment Assistant (Part Time, 20-30 hours per week)

Yume Nursery & Preschool is a high-quality early years setting in Southwest London and part of Yume School UK Ltd. We are expanding our People & Culture function and seeking a proactive, detail-driven Recruitment Assistant to support end-to-end hiring and HR administration across the nursery.

This is an excellent role for someone who enjoys talent sourcing, fast-paced coordination, and working within a compliance-focused environment.

Role Overview



The Recruitment Assistant will be responsible for sourcing and attracting strong early-years candidates across all roles (educators, kitchen team, leadership roles, and support staff). The role requires high-volume digital sourcing, CV screening, conducting initial video interviews, and coordinating next-stage interviews with the Nursery Manager.

You will also lead the administrative and compliance processes for safer recruitment, onboarding, and leavers management, ensuring all HR files remain accurate, complete, and audit-ready.

This role reports into the Management Team and Directors of Operations.

Key Responsibilities1. Talent Sourcing and Pipeline Building



Proactively source candidates through paid recruitment platforms, LinkedIn, Indeed CV Search, Facebook groups, and sector-specific forums. Directly approach and engage potential nursery staff, including Early Years Educators, Room Leaders, Kitchen Assistants, and management roles. Maintain a live talent pipeline and track engagement.

2. Screening and Interviewing



Review CVs and shortlist candidates against role specifications and EYFS requirements. Conduct initial video screening interviews to assess suitability, communication, and compliance indicators. Coordinate final interviews with the Nursery Manager and provide timely follow-up to candidates.

3. Safer Recruitment Compliance



Support the full safer recruitment workflow, including: Application form and health declaration checks Right to work checks DBS applications and Update Service verification Reference checks (professional and character) Qualification and residential address verification Ensure all evidence is collected, recorded, and stored according to EYFS, Ofsted, and safer recruitment standards.

4. Onboarding and Induction



Prepare and issue offer letters, contracts, and onboarding documentation. Organise induction schedules and ensure new starters complete mandatory training. Upload all documents to BrightHR, ensuring full accuracy and GDPR compliance.

5. HR Administration



Manage staff HR folders (physical and digital) alongside BrightHR record keeping. Support leavers processing: resignation acknowledgement, final documentation, exit interview coordination, and file closure. Maintain recruitment trackers and weekly reporting.

Essential Skills & Experience



Experience in recruitment, talent sourcing, or HR coordination. Strong understanding of safer recruitment or willingness to learn. Ability to conduct confident, structured video interviews. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with multiple open vacancies. Proficiency with digital tools: MS Office, BrightHR (or similar), video-interview platforms.

Desirable



Experience in HR & Recruitment in early years, education, healthcare, or other regulated sectors. Knowledge of EYFS, Ofsted requirements, and safer recruitment expectations. Right to work checks and DBS experience.

Hours and Location



Part time: 20-30 hours per week On-site at Yume Nursery & Preschool, 10 Point Pleasant, SW18 1GG
