We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Education Technicians at the 422nd Force Support Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Croughton , United Kingdom.

What will be your primary role?



The primary purpose of this position is to provide appropriate, specialized developmental care and instruction for children in the Child Development Center (CDC). You will perform basic oversight and supervision for a designated classroom for ages 6 months through 5 years, and may be designated as the supervisor on duty, whenever the Child Development Center (CDC) Director is not physically in the facility. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and reviewing activity plans and will observe and evaluate each child's health and development, reporting on and maintaining records of observations. In addition, you will participate in special projects and prepare and implement specialized programs for children with special needs, (i.e., children with disciplinary problems, learning disabilities, or gifted children), providing technical guidance and leadership to junior employees assigned to assist with program activities.

Qualification requirements:



You must have a 4-year course above the high school in early childhood studies, or Two years of specialized experience in early childhood and either a CACHE/NNEB diploma in Nursery, BTECH National in childhood studies, NVQ 3 in childcare, or a Child Development Associate credential, advanced NNEB/CACHE in Childcare and Education.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?



1. Knowledge of Child Development regulations, procedures and processes, and of early child development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.

2. Knowledge of Child Development Center regulations, programs and operations, and the ability to develop creative and innovative activity and special program plans.

3. Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with others and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

4. Ability to ensure the safety and hygiene of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, and proper management of equipment.

What are the conditions of employment for this role?



1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.

2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. This position may also be coded as mission essential.

3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.

4. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.

5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

6. Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week on an as rostered schedule (this will be working any 5 days out of 7-between 0645-1745) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.

7. You must be at least 18 years of age, with a high school diploma (or UK equivalent).

8. You must complete 24 hours of annual training, which includes Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, rescue breathing, and food handling (as applicable). Training plans will be established and monitored by the supervisor and may specify the length of time the employee has to obtain certification. The training may be conducted during evening and weekend hours.

9. You must speak, read, and write English.

10. You may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

11. You must pass and maintain a pre-employment physical examination, and keep current on all required immunizations, including annual influenza. Work requires walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting/carrying children and moderate physical exertion. You may be required to rearrange furniture and will lift or carry children weighing up to 40 pounds.

12. This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". You must successfully pass an enhanced DBS background investigation.

13. A food handler's certificate will be required, with training provided.
