Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Sexual and Reproductive Health Service for a Band 3 post that combines the roles of Nursing Support Worker and Administrative Officer, 22.5 hours per week, as required to meet the needs of the Service.
We are looking to appoint an individual who has previous experience of working in one or both of these roles and is keen to learn new skills.
The post holder will be based at Penlan Clinic in Carmarthen and will be expected to also work at the Llanelli clinic on a regular basis and cover clinics in Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion as required.
Our friendly, hardworking Team offers a range of services including - contraception, management of Sexually transmitted infections and a pregnancy advisory service.
Main duties of the job
Following training and assessment, as part of a plan of care, undertake delegated clinical interventions to include:

  • Venepuncture
  • STI tests on asymptomatic patients
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Urinalysis
  • Physiological observations
  • Health promotion advice and support
  • Teaching correct condom use
Obtain specimens for diagnostic analysis, e.g., urine, venepuncture, throat swabs.
Accurately record patient's vital signs, e.g., temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiratory rate (if required).
Support patients during genital examinations and procedures including ultrasound scans and termination of pregnancy care / procedures.
The post-holder within their administrative role will also provide a range of administrative and secretarial duties including filing of clinical and non-clinical correspondence.
The post-holder will welcome patients to the department, guiding them to the appropriate room and answering general questions.
Duties will also include typing, scanning, photocopying and ordering office supplies.
Promote and support the rights, responsibilities and diversity of individuals and their families/carers and relate with kindness and empathy to all concerned.
