Job Title:

Occupational Therapist

Purpose of the Role



To empower individuals with disabilities to achieve maximum independence and quality of life across physical, psychological, social, and economic dimensions. This includes delivering high-quality occupational therapy services that promote inclusion, independence, and well-being within the community.

Key Relationships



Reports to: Line Manager Works closely with: Service Managers, Heads of Establishments, other Occupational Therapists, and external agencies

Key Responsibilities



Deliver appropriate services to children and adults with disabilities through direct visits and professional assessments. Evaluate clients' needs and recommend interventions that support independent living, including home adaptations and assistive equipment. Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to ensure coordinated and high-standard service delivery. Offer support and advice to colleagues across the department, contributing to a unified and professional approach. Stay informed about current developments in occupational therapy and related practices, sharing relevant updates with team members. Participate in service evaluation and development to ensure inclusive and effective support for all community groups.

Organize and coordinate the workload of the team as necessary.

Person SpecificationQualifications



Essential:

Diploma in Occupational Therapy (DipOT) or equivalent qualification, with current registration with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).

Desirable:

Evidence of participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs.

Experience



Essential:

Experience in delivering occupational therapy services and conducting assessments for individuals with physical and sensory disabilities.

Desirable:

Additional relevant experience post-qualification.

Skills and Knowledge



Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage an individual caseload and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Competence in assessing needs and care planning for children and adults with a wide range of physical and sensory disabilities. Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Community Care, Disability Law), resources, and professional best practices.

Desirable:

Ability to work with diverse service user groups and familiarity with digital systems and assistive technologies.

Personal Effectiveness



Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Organized, adaptable, and capable of managing competing priorities. Demonstrates a proactive and flexible approach to work.
