The Accessible Homes and Technology Enabled Care (TEC) Hub at Bristol City Council is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Aide (OTA) to join our friendly, multidisciplinary service. You'll be part of the Accessible Homes OT/A team, working with people of all ages to help them remain independent, safe, and comfortable in their homes.

What We Do

Accessible Homes is a one-stop service supporting residents who need help to access and adapt their home environment. From simple equipment to complex property adaptations, we provide practical, person-centred solutions that make a real difference.

You'll visit people, listen to their stories, and identify practical solutions to make their homes accessible. From small equipment to major adaptations funded through Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG), you'll help people overcome barriers and promote their safety and independence at home. Everything we do is guided by the 5 principles of the Care Act and the legislation that relates to the DFG.

As an OTA in our team, you will:

Assess people's needs in their homes and recommend practical solutions. Understand the built environment and identify barriers that impact daily living. Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver timely, effective interventions. Including the Accessible homes team of surveyors, caseworkers, and technicians, as well as contractors, housing teams, and adult social care, to deliver timely, effective interventions. Manage your own caseload, following clear processes and maintaining accurate records.

What We're Looking For

Interest in housing, accessibility, and inclusive design. Knowledge and willingness to learn about health conditions and their impact on daily life. Experience in a caring or support role is desirable, but full training will be provided. Strong organisational skills to manage a busy caseload. Excellent communication skills. Including written and listening skills. Proficient IT skills and willingness to learn use of online note keeping systems. Robust observational skills, to aid gathering essential information during an assessment. A self-motivated, problem-solving approach and eagerness to learn.

Why Join Us?

Be part of a supportive, progressive team committed to making a difference. Receive regular supervision and ongoing training from experienced Occupational Therapists.

If you're passionate about helping people live independently and want a rewarding role where every day is different, we'd love to hear from you.
