From 1 December 2025

the pay range for this role will be 33,699 to 39.152 Band 8 (pro rata for part time colleagues). To promote fairness and consistency, all new starters will begin at the bottom of the pay band. This reflects our commitment to equity across the organisation and aligns with the approach taken with existing staff during the transition. While the starting salary is fixed, the role offers excellent scope for growth, meaningful contribution, and being part of a forward-thinking team.

Occupational Therapy Assistant - Part time (18.5 - 24 hours per week)




We are seeking to recruit Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team in Bournemouth.


The team work in the community with adults with long term health conditions. We provide assessments and interventions that can include provision of equipment, minor or major adaptations and Moving and Handling assessments to facilitate greater independence and well-being for people and families. You will work alongside Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Care Managers, health colleagues & other agencies to provide a person-centred strength-based approach.

Role Purpose




To assess the needs of vulnerable adults. To ensure that the provision of equipment, adaptations, advice support and all other services required to meet identified needs is arranged and reviewed in an efficient, sensitive, and cost-effective manner.

Main Responsibilities



Conduct needs-led assessments and manage care plans, including commissioning, ordering, and reviewing services, equipment, and adaptations. Independently manage a caseload following training, including community visits. Liaise with health and social care professionals to ensure effective service delivery. Provide advice and information to clients, carers, and professionals, and represent the service at public events. Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective services for vulnerable adults in BCP Council. Maintain accurate records and input data into relevant systems. Undertake required training and participate in regular supervision. Comply with Council policies and statutory requirements, including GDPR, Health and Safety, and the Equality Act.

The Ideal Candidate



Work experience in the field of health or social care involving direct contact with people and families. Experience in working as part of a team. Good communication and negotiation skills. Ability to keep accurate records. Ability to organise and prioritise own work and meet deadlines. Ability to relate to wide range of people with varied needs and social backgrounds. Computer literate and able to travel around the local area
