The Registered Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the children's home, ensuring it operates in line with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements. You will provide leadership, direction, and accountability, ensuring that the home delivers high-quality, child-focused care that meets individual needs and helps children achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the home consistently meets or exceeds Ofsted's Good or Outstandingrating, maintaining full compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding protocols.
Leadership & Management:
Lead, inspire, and develop the care team to deliver excellent standards of care and achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
Care Planning:
Oversee and maintain personalised care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans in collaboration with social workers, families, and external agencies.
Safeguarding:
Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the protection and welfare of all children in the home.
Staff Development:
Recruit, train, supervise, and appraise staff to maintain a skilled, motivated, and confident workforce.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct regular audits, reviews, and monitoring to identify improvements and implement action plans.
Budget Management:
Manage the home's budget effectively, ensuring resources are used efficiently and in the best interests of the children.
Multi-Agency Working:
Build strong working relationships with local authorities, Ofsted inspectors, education providers, health professionals, and other key stakeholders.
Crisis Management:
Provide calm, professional leadership during challenging situations and incidents, ensuring lessons are learned and practice improves.
Essential Requirements
Qualifications:
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards completion within 18 months).
Experience:
At least 2 years' experience in a supervisory role within a children's residential setting.
Proven track record of working with Ofsted regulations and achieving Good or Outstandinginspection ratings.
Skills & Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of safeguarding procedures, the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to inspire, motivate, and manage a multidisciplinary team.
Resilience, empathy, and commitment to the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable Attributes
Experience opening or registering a new children's home.
Knowledge of therapeutic models of care.
Ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively and constructively.
