Job Description

U-Turn in Life Skills Ltd seeks a Registered Manager to lead an Ofsted Registered Home in Luton. This role comes with a bonus scheme and some elements of flexibility, including a working from home day, which enables the manager to work quietly away from home to catch up on weekly tasks that might remain pending.

Responsibilities



To ensure overall Home compliance with appropriate Legislation, Regulations and Responsible Authority Guidelines. To ensure compliance with proper Health & Safety, COSHH, Fire, and Equal Opportunities Legislation. To stay updated on all new legislation, regulations, and responsible authority guidelines, and to ensure effective communication with all staff. Amend policies and procedures or produce new documents as needed due to changes or updates in such legislation, regulations, or guidelines. To ensure the smooth operation of the Home's Quality Management System through appropriate Self-Assessment and Quality Systems Audits, to ensure that Quality Certification Standards are maintained. Chair staff meetings, and plan, organise and conduct Quality Management Review Meetings at agreed intervals following Quality requirements. To set disciplinary rules in consultation with senior staff and ensure that such regulations are applied consistently and fairly to all employees. To ensure that the fabric of the Home, and all attendant installations, equipment and appliances are maintained to the highest order in accordance with Health & Safety requirements. To arrange planned maintenance/servicing/calibration, as appropriate, and/or repair of installations, equipment and appliances. To maintain all insurance policies relating to the Home and resident children / young people. Maintain the list of preferred suppliers and service subcontractors at home and ensure it is regularly reviewed through quality management meetings. Monitor stock levels of consumables and order/purchase / procure items as required. To calculate staff wages, attend to PAYE and NI contributions, and issue payments to staff at the agreed times as per Staff Contracts of Employment. To attend to all mail addressed to the Home, and to carry out general office duties as required. To actively liaise with schools, colleges and other learning establishments to ensure that appropriate education and training are available for both staff and the resident children in line with the Company's objectives and each child's educational goals. To maintain account ledgers and cash books as required by law, monitor and control cash flow, and maintain the profitability of the Home. To be responsible for the recruitment and retention of staff. To effectively communicate with all staff, children and relatives. To ensure staff commitment, motivation and flexibility through proper organisation, leadership, job deployment and appropriate skill mix. Liaise with the Responsible Authority concerning the continuing Home Registration under the appropriate Legislation and Regulations. Monitor and act upon all complaints from children / young persons, family members and staff. To undertake any other managerial duties as may be necessary.

Qualifications/ Knowledge



Minimum of a Completed Level 3 in Residential Children with the willingness to work towards L5 Maths / English and ICT Level 2 or equivalent Health and Safety Knowledge and Understanding of the Care Standards Act 2000: legal definitions of all our registered agencies and establishments. Knowledge and understanding of The Care Standards Act 2000 (Registration)(England) Regulations 2010. Knowledge and Understanding of His Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills (Fes and Frequency of Inspectors) (Children's Homes, etc). Regulations Knowledge and Understanding of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 Knowledge and Understanding of the Children (Secure Accommodation) Regulations 1991. Knowledge and Understanding of Refuges (Children's Homes and Foster Placements) Regulations 1991. Knowledge and Understanding of Residential Holiday Schemes for Disabled Children (England) Regulations 2013. Knowledge and Understanding of Care Standards Act 2000 (Extension of the Application of Part 2 to Holiday Schemes for Disabled Children) (England) Regulations 2013. You should also consult: Knowledge and Understanding of the Guide to the Children's Homes Regulations, including the quality standards. Knowledge and Understanding of Children's Homes Regulations Amendments 2014. The ability to manage the home effectively and independently, and have some knowledge of HR matters and processes to ensure the home continually works within the nine quality standards.

Pay: 50,000.00-60,000.00 per year
