The Facilitating Trainer is responsible for delivering learning disability and autism training to people who work in health and social care across North Central London on behalf of the North Central London Integrated Care System (ICS).
This training is called The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism, which comprises of full day in person training sessions, as well as Teams webinars.
Training is delivered by training teams, consisting of the facilitating trainer, working with an autistic co-trainer and a co-trainer with a learning disability.
The core role involves being a training lead for your training team, responsible for training preparation, training delivery at various Trust locations across North Central London, and review and refinement of training scripts and materials as required.
As a Facilitating Trainer you will have an in-depth understanding of learning disability and autism and have solid training experience. You will lead and support expert by experience Co-trainers who will be autistic people and people with a learning disability.
Undertake a supervisory role for expert with lived experience co-trainers, ensuring appropriate pastoral support, leadership and coaching.
Effectively support experts with lived experience Co-trainers, ensuring they are fully included and supported in the delivery of the sessions.
Provide reasonable adjustments to support individual needs of the training teams prior to, during and after training sessions.
Become an NHS England-accredited Oliver McGowan Mandatory trainer.
Lead the Oliver McGowan training teams in the preparation of training sessions, and the post-sessions review / improve cycle.
Lead and co-deliver Oliver McGowan Mandatory training sessions.
Help to keep training participants and the training team safe and confident in their surroundings and act on safeguarding and health and safety concerns in line with organisation policies.
Understand the Oliver McGowan "Train the Trainer" information around the legal aspects, keeping up to date with current and emerging thinking in health and social care practice, learning disability and autism.
Understand and respond to queries and challenges from delegates during training.
