Food Train is a Scottish Charity supporting older people living at home across Scotland. The Operational Assistant will assist volunteers in service delivery, shopping in the supermarket, out on the van delivering and undertaking general admin around the office. This is a varied and busy role but great fun and a genuine chance to help older people in the community.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be able to comfortably undertake tasks such as lifting boxes, driving a van, support with household tasks, carry and use various equipment.
Work flexible hours during weekdays
Have full current driving licence
Subject to a successful PVG scheme record check
Duties
Assist in the collection of member shopping lists
Respond to new member referrals
Use and update computer databases
General office tasks such as photocopying, filing, telephone, computing and mailing duties
Assist in the supermarket making up grocery orders
Assist in the delivery of shopping orders
Support and assist local branch-based staff and volunteers
Person Specification ~ Essential
a motivated and enthusiastic individual
excellent communication skills
a real 'people person' with a 'can-do' approach
ability to work on own initiative and part of a team
some understanding of the voluntary sector
motivation to work with older people in the community
basic office skills and experience of Microsoft applications, including Excel
ability to drive a van
