Operations & Administration Lead (Maternity Cover)
Location: Remote (Hertfordshire-based applicants only due to regular in-person meetings)
Contract: Full-time, fixed-term (11-13 months)
Start Date: Mid-August 2025
Salary: 33-38k PA depending on experience
Potential for extension or likely permanent placement
Off Mains Solutions is a growing business in the off-mains drainage sector, known for delivering professional, high-quality, and customer-focused service. We are seeking an experienced and organised Operations & Administration Lead to join our team during a period of maternity leave.
This is a key operational and client-facing role, responsible for ensuring internal processes run smoothly while also acting as the primary point of contact for our clients. The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Director and play a vital role in maintaining day-to-day service delivery and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary liaison for client communication and issue resolution
- Coordinate operational and administrative workflows to ensure efficient service delivery
- Lead on the organisation's administrative functions; mailboxes, telephone calls, invoicing, quotations and report writing etc.
- Support the Project Co-Ordinator with scheduling, compliance, and internal coordination
- Assist in the oversight of the other team members, including task prioritization, annual leave and expenses
- Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation complies with health and safety and industry standards
- Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges as they arise
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in operations, administration, or service delivery roles
- High attention to detail and a structured, organised approach to work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and courteous manner
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-paced business environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general administrative systems
- Based in Hertfordshire due to the requirement for regular in-person meetings, typically weekly
- A quiet, private and dedicated home workstation with high-speed internet is a must. IT equipment is provided.
Desirable:
- Experience in construction, utilities, or field service industries
- Familiarity with compliance processes, health and safety, or technical documentation
- Previous experience in a small business or startup environment
