The Role
: Operations Assistant
Operations Assistants sit within the Advisory Ops team based in Norwich and provide front-line administrative support to delivery and sales colleagues within the Marsh Advisory practice.
The day-to-day job role involves processing invoice requests, preparation of sales contracts and administration of the Marsh Advisory time tracking system, as well as assisting colleagues with a wide variety of internal queries.
Whilst a background within a similar role would be ideal, we would also welcome applications from entry level candidates who have the right attitude and transferrable skill set.
What can you expect?
The successful candidate will be involved in building strong working relationships with a variety of key stakeholders across the Marsh business.
Infrequent client contact will be required, however this is primarily an internally-focused role.
You will have the opportunity to work as part of a close-knit team, where you will be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and play a strong role in various critical processes.
You will have the opportunity to identify areas for process improvement and implement accordingly, with the support of your Line Manager.
There is also room for growth within the role, to expand on key tasks and responsibilities as part of owning and operating processes
Marsh will also support with professional development in relevant areas, including funding appropriate qualifications
We will rely on you to:
Provide administrative support for delivery colleagues within Marsh Advisory, both directly on requests and by performing routine administration tasks
Process work assigned with accuracy and diligence, making sure to follow defined processes and making referrals and inquiries as appropriate to ensure work is processed right first time
Take account of and keep up to date with changing compliance and procedural requirements
Communicate with office leader/office leadership group and other consultants to ensure client satisfaction with office support service levels.
Assist with ad hoc firm requests or project related activities from time to time
What you need to have:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to work to set procedures within a strongly process-driven environment
The capability to manage your own workload while meeting agreed service levels and responding to changing priorities
Good level of education, especially strong proficiency with English and Maths
Good desktop PC skills, with the ability to pick up new systems quickly
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Excellent attention to detail and visual accuracy skills, with a "right first time" mindset
A proactive, "can do" attitude and strong work ethic
The flexibility to travel to our London office, on occasion
What makes you stand out:
Experience of working in a corporate environment within the financial services sector (banking, insurance, pensions etc), ideally in a role focused on administration or finance
Qualifications in relevant or similar fields (e.g. CertCII, CertRBCB)
