Job Description

Due to upcoming organisational changes within our Bampton site, we have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, solutions-focused leader who can provide stability, direction and innovation during a period of development and integration.

The Bampton Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and co-ordinating the operational, digital and administrative functions across Bampton Surgery and Bampton Pharmacy, with potential for occasional cross-site working.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the future operating model for Bampton, supporting the integration of practice and pharmacy services and contributing to digital and organisational transformation across Amicus Health Group. The post holder will benefit from:

This role has a strong operational focus, ensuring the effective day-to-day running of both the practice and pharmacy, the smooth co-ordination between clinical and non-clinical teams, and the optimisation of digital tools to enhance patient care and recall processes.

Working closely with the Group Manager, Lead Partner at Bampton and the central Amicus Health Group senior team, the post holder will lead staff, drive quality improvement, develop workflows across the practice-pharmacy interface, and ensure delivery against key operational, clinical, regulatory and financial targets.

A high degree of organisational skill, confident decision-making and a systematic approach to planning and problem solving are essential. As a visible leader for the Bampton site, the post holder will champion patient experience, foster a positive culture and ensure that Bampton continues to thrive within a challenging but rewarding primary care environment.

Amicus Health Group is a thriving practice with five sites located in the picturesque Mid Devon area covering Clare House, Bampton, Witheridge, Morchard Bishop and Cheriton Fitzpaine surgeries. We deliver excellent primary care across Mid Devon thanks to our multidisciplinary clinical team of GPs, pharmacists, ANP's, paramedics, practice nurses, HCAs and a strong administrative function.

Despite our size, we maintain a strong team ethos with daily meetings, regular clinical team discussions and shared lunch breaks.

We provide fruit, tea and coffee for all staff and foster team spirit with annual summer and Christmas parties, yoga, walking groups and appreciation postcards.

Key responsibilities:



Operational leadership and service delivery



Lead and manage day-to-day operations across Bampton Surgery and Bampton Pharmacy, ensuring smooth delivery of clinical and administrative services Develop, embed, and continually refine workflows that support integration and interoperability between the practice and pharmacy Ensure effective appointments, capacity planning and patient flow models that support patient access and quality targets Provide visible leadership to staff, modelling professional standards and promoting a positive, supportive working environment Ensure compliance with CQC, health & safety, medicines management (in relation to pharmacy workflows), infection control and all statutory requirements Support operational readiness for new digital and clinical initiatives, including recall optimisation and patient communications.

People management & HR



Lead, manage and support administrative and operational teams across Bampton Oversee recruitment, induction, performance management, sickness absence management and appraisals for staff within your remit Ensure staff feel valued, supported and accountable, through regular 1 to 1s, structured supervision and clear development plans Maintain effective communication across all staff groups, ensuring changes and expectations are clearly communicated Build workforce resilience through effective rota management, succession planning and proactive management of peaks in demand.

Finance, reporting & performance



Ensure operational delivery contributes to financial sustainability by achieving targets for QOF, IIF, Local Enhanced Services and pharmacy returns and activity claims Work with the pharmacy team to ensure service and claim optimisation from day one, supported by robust reporting and workflow management Monitor budgets and operational costs for Bampton, ensuring efficiency and highlighting risks or opportunities to the Group Manager Implement improvements that reduce waste, improve productivity and strengthen service performance.

Patient experience and patient growth



Maintain a strong focus on delivering excellent patient experience across both the practice and pharmacy Work with central teams to support digital communication, local promotion and patient messaging that contribute to patient retention and growth Oversee complaints and significant events in your area, ensuring that learning is embedded and service improvements identified Support the Patient Participation Group and build positive relationships with the local community.

Strategic & PCN collaboration



Support the strategic development of Bampton through participation in Amicus Health Group leadership activities Represent Bampton in PCN, locality and system-wide forums where appropriate Contribute to wider Amicus Health Group projects, sharing learning and supporting consistent standards across sites.
