Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee all site operations, including Production, Logistics, Quality, and Health & Safety, at our Kings Norton facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective operations while maintaining high standards of quality and service. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to drive performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organisation.

Responsibilities



Production & Quality Deliver agreed production volumes by setting and monitoring capacity and efficiency levels.

Continuous Improvement



Champion lean manufacturing principles, including kaizen events, SMED, and 5S. Identify and remove non-value-added activities to improve efficiency. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation. Ensure accuracy and diligence in data input and reporting. Recommend and lead improvement projects as project owner or team member.

People Leadership



Lead, motivate, and develop the Production and Logistics teams. Define and implement work standards and processes. Monitor individual and team performance, providing timely feedback and appraisals. Manage absence, holiday allocation, and overtime fairly and effectively. Ensure compliance with company policies, including disciplinary procedures where necessary. Maintain accurate employee training and safety records. Identify training needs, implement training plans, and monitor skills coverage. Foster two-way communication across teams.

Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)



Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation and company policies. Act on findings from safety audits and committee meetings. Promote and monitor workplace safety, alarms, and safe systems of work. Investigate incidents and complete reports as required. Drive housekeeping standards and promote 5S. Control waste and ensure compliance with environmental requirements.

Logistics & ERP



Act as ERP Super User for the site. Oversee raw material and finished goods management, ensuring 100% supply to demand. Monitor and ensure on-time delivery (OTD) performance to customers. Establish internal plans to meet delivery dates and customer requirements. Ensure compliance with MRP processes and accurate closure of production orders. Work with Finance to review stock and production levels. Support stock takes and make corrections where necessary. Serve as main point of contact for customers regarding schedules and logistics. Maintain smooth ERP operation through regular Master Production Schedule reviews.

Reporting & Performance



Report against company KPIs including production scrap, cost of non-quality (CONQ), machine utilisation, transport costs, direct labour costs, energy costs, and stock levels. Investigate deviations from the production plan and implement corrective actions. Ensure accurate recording, review, and reporting of weekly/monthly performance data. Identify and resolve capacity constraints through trials and process adjustments. Drive compliance with quality standards across all teams. Lead investigations into customer complaints, communicate findings, and monitor corrective actions. Develop and implement corrective actions to eliminate quality deviations.

Skills



5+ years' experience in manufacturing, including at least 2 years in management/supervisory roles. Strong leadership and communication skills, with proven ability to manage and develop teams. Knowledge of plastic injection moulding, quality control standards, and lean manufacturing (highly desirable). Experience with ERP/MRP systems. Flexible approach, with ability to travel in the UK when required.

Hours



40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (flexibility required).
