Purpose
We're looking for a
hands-on, proactive Operations Manager
to lead daily operations at our Didcot site. This is a key leadership role focused on
team management, logistics planning, and maintaining high standards of EHSQ compliance
.
You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient running of site operations -- including
driver scheduling, vehicle coordination, site compliance
, and day-to-day staff operations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Team Management:
Hands on management of teams, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Foster a positive and safe work environment while promoting teamwork and collaboration.
Resource Allocation:
Allocate resources such as workforce, equipment, and materials efficiently to optimise processes.
Manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstock situations.
Quality Control:
Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that products or services meet or exceed established standards.
Address quality issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Compliance:
Management of the QMS system including internal audits, management meetings, supplier evaluations and updating procedures.
Background security checks on new staff and renewal checks on existing staff.
External audits and inspections from customers and regulators.
Arranging emergency training and exercises.
Investigating and reporting on incidents.
Implementing changes to regulations.
Health and Safety:
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
Investigate and report any accidents or incidents and implement preventive measures.
Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and implement plans and schedules to meet customer demands and organisational goals.
Monitor progress and adjust schedules as needed to ensure on-time delivery.
Key Skills & Competencies
Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, science, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus) or equivalent practical experience would be considered
Proven experience in Operations/science management or a related role.
Strong knowledge of processes, quality control, and supply chain management.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and solve complex problems.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for this role.
