Operations Manager / Director
to oversee all aspects of event operations and site logistics.
Role Overview
The Operations Manager / Director will play a pivotal leadership role within IntentsGP, responsible for the end-to-end operational delivery of each event. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this individual will coordinate people, processes, and suppliers to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe operations across all event sites.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics or operations management--preferably within the Armed Forces or a similar disciplined, high-performance environment--and will be comfortable leading diverse teams in dynamic, on-site conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
Oversee all operational aspects of event delivery, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Team Management:
Lead and develop a team of 4 Site Managers responsible for customer service, site operations, reception, logistics, and facilities.
Planning & Coordination:
Develop detailed operational plans for each event, covering staffing, logistics, infrastructure (power, sanitation, accommodation), and supplier coordination.
Supplier Management:
Liaise with external suppliers for power, showers, toilets, and other on-site services, ensuring performance meets IntentsGP's quality and reliability standards.
Health & Safety:
Champion a culture of safety and compliance across all operations, maintaining adherence to relevant legislation and internal policies.
Customer Experience:
Work closely with customer service and reception teams to ensure a smooth, professional guest experience throughout the event cycle.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and operational processes across the business.
Budget Management:
Assist in the preparation and management of operational budgets, including cost forecasting, procurement, and supplier negotiations.
On-Site Leadership:
Represent IntentsGP on-site during event delivery phases, ensuring all operational areas run smoothly and issues are resolved quickly.
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience & Attributes:
Proven track record in operations or logistics management, ideally within the Armed Forces or a comparable structured environment.
Strong leadership and people management skills with experience overseeing multi-site teams.
Excellent planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Calm under pressure with the ability to make clear, informed decisions in fast-paced environments.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive, hands-on approach.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to event sites as required.
Desirable:
Experience in large-scale event operations or temporary infrastructure management.
Knowledge of compliance, H&S, and risk management in operational environments.
Familiarity with logistics, supply chain, or facilities management sectors.
